Recent Concerns Around Vehicle Crime in Your Area

Dear residents,

Over the past three months, North Yorkshire Police have received reports of criminal activity in the Tockwith area, specifically related to thefts from unattended motor vehicles (TUMV’s). The offenders appear to have targeted vehicles, often during the hours of darkness and have removed property/valuables left inside.

We understand that this has raised concerns among residents, and we want to reassure the public that we are taking these matters seriously. In response to these concerns, you will notice an increased police presence in Tockwith and long Marston. Please do not be alarmed by this – our presence is not in response to any immediate threat, but rather part of a proactive effort to prevent further incidents and reassure the community.

Please can I encourage local residents to take the following preventative measures and actions;

  • Remove all valuables from your vehicle when unattended – even items such as loose change and charger cables as these can attract thieves.
  • Lock your vehicle(s) and ensure that all your windows fully closed
  • Park in well lit areas (if able to do so) and driveways where possible
  • Keep vehicle keys out of sight – Do not leave them near windows or letterboxes as these can be retrievable.
  •

    If you have any concerns, or you would like to speak about the recent incidents, or any other community matters, please do not hesitate to make contact.

    Your continued support and vigilance are greatly appreciated. Please report any suspicious activity or information by calling 101, or 999 in an emergency.

    Kind regards,
