Vehicle Crime

Good Afternoon,

Wellingborough is having another spate of vehicle crimes, can I please ask everyone to work together to try and combat this matter!

Please properly secure your vehicles and prevent your items from being stolen by locking your cars, keeping any items out of view  and by being aware to what is happening at the moment. If you have information to share about an incident please send it to us or if you are unsure on how to report then please call 101 or if the crime is in progress then call 999.  We are working tirelessly to try and resolve this issue.

Please make sure that any CCTV is working as this could be used as evidential value. If you require any further information on crime prevention the please see below;

Vehicle:

  • Park your car in a garage or driveway if possible, or on a busy, well-lit road.  Choose a ParkMark® accredited public car park wherever possible
  • Physically check your central locking system has activated to ensure the signal hasn’t been blocked and the car left unlocked
  • Store keys for keyless entry cars in a RFID pouch or foil lined tin to block signal from scanners that will remotely unlock your car e.g Defender Signal Blocker
  • Bike:

    Secure your bike by looping a cable lock through the front wheel and then through a Sold Secure® Gold standard D lock or chain. Then attach bike to a bike stand or immovable object with the lock  Sold Secure - Security Product Testing & Approval

  • Register details of your bike on the BikeRegister® national database. Look out for FREE police BikeRegister® cycle marking events to have your bike security marked
  • Buying a second-hand bike? Check whether it’s registered stolen on BikeRegister® database before you buy BikeChecker | BikeRegister
  • Further security tips and advice can be found on the Northamptonshire Police website and on the Neighbourhood Watch website.
