Dear Neighbourhood Link Member, Good Afternoon, and I hope you are well! Here is an update on neighbourhood policing in Syston, Thurmaston and surrounding villages. What have the neighbourhood team been doing? As the weather gets warmer, we see an increase in ASB especially involving motorbikes, the beat team are aware of these issues and there is CCTV inquiries and patrols taking place to identity suspects so they can be dealt with. The beat team have been conducting burglary patrols around the NL61 beat, which consists of evening foot and marked car patrols throughout the villages in the residential areas. This is just a selection of what the neighbourhood team have been doing, we have also been completing crime investigations, partnership working with other agencies and engaging with residents and businesses in the area. Our Priorities The community have stated that ASB is a concern within The Charnwood East area. The core priorities will remain the same and will be adapted to specific areas as demand dictates, patrols have continued in areas highlight as concerns with ASB. Patrols have been conducted around Hilltop Road and Lady Acre in Thorpebury in the Limes following reports of motorbikes at the location. Additionally, patrols have taken place in Syston town and Thurmaston shopping centre to address disruptive behaviour by youths. Officers have also attended Thurmaston retail park in response to the car cruise. Checkland Road has seen patrols due to reports of anti-social behaviour (ASB), concerns regarding drug taking, and the use of a quad bike on the road. Patrols will continue at these locations and any newly identified areas to ensure community safety. The community has also stated that speeding and parking issues are a concern at various locations throughout the Charnwood East area.Speed operations have taken place on Barkby Road in Queniborough, and Melton road In Thurmaston. Following a report of an abandoned vehicle, the beat team attended and found the vehicle to be stolen; it was forensically recovered. The team also visited Thurmaston Brownies and spoke to the children about road safety. Additionally, they provided general information, including road safety, to the children at Broomfield School East Goscote holiday club. Further operations are planned in areas highlighted as concerned. And finally …….. There has been a recent increase in residential burglaries within Charnwood East area. After reports of burglaries at Thorpebury in the Limes, high visibility patrols have taken place and the team have liaised with the site management. Patrols have also been conducted around Syston, Thurmaston, East Goscote, Rearsby, and Thrussington. The ASB car has also completed patrols around the villages . The team continue to work with our CID colleagues to support investigations and provide reassurance to all involved. The team will adjusted their patrols plans to incorporate those areas affected to provide reassurance and assist with any enquiries. Upcoming Neighbourhood Consultation
