Police Cadet Recruitment - Taking the first rung towards a long career in policing. Could You ?

Glossop SNT - Police Cadet Recruitment

POLICE CADETS

As a Derbyshire Constabulary police cadet, you’ll be taking the first rung towards a long career in policing. You’ll take part in weekly cadet meetings, social action projects, and local initiatives aimed at raising the profile of young people in the county and giving you a real insight into policing.

As well as experiencing the different areas of policing such as task force, dog section, road policing unit, and other operational teams, the scheme is structured to allow cadets to achieve Duke of Edinburgh Awards, CVC qualification, First aid training and other Life skills.

The Police Cadet Scheme is a great way for you to get an insight into the police and be involved in a police-orientated youth group where they can work alongside their local communities. The aims of the scheme are to give young people a taste of the many and varied aspects of policing, to make them aware of the role of the police in society, to develop their character and to promote good citizenship.

Becoming a police cadet will give you a real insight into policing and encourage your spirit of adventure. And, even if you don't go on to join the constabulary (although we hope you will), you’ll definitely become a more confident and socially aware young adult.

Senior Cadet - you must be aged between 13 and 18 (Academic years 9 to 13 as of September 2024) to apply to join the Cadets.

What you could be involved in

Cadets meet for two hours each week, with the exception of most school holiday periods, and these are just some of the exciting activities you’ll get involved in during your service:

  • Learning about police procedures and criminal law

  • Team building activity weekends

  • Duke of Edinburgh expeditions

  • Inspection and drill

  • Crime prevention

  • Local community events

  • Charity fund raising

  • Physical training

  • First aid

Glossop Cadets meet on Wednesday evenings between 7 pm – 9 pm at The Cadet Centre, Fauvel Rd, Glossop SK13 7DW
