Dear Residents and Local Businesses, Here is your weekly update from your local neighbourhood Policing Team, Stoke and Wyken.
This Week Officers collaborated closely with the council and traffic wardens at Wyken Croft Primary School, where numerous drivers received advice and fines for parking violations. Our ongoing objective is to address parking-related issues at various schools to ensure the safety of our children and the community. We continue to conduct undercover patrols at the Warwickshire Retail Park, a location that frequently attracts shoplifters. Business owners have provided us with valuable insights that will enhance our ability to identify and implement strategies aimed at apprehending these repeat offenders. Community speed watch also took place on Kyner way thanks to a great member of the public.
With the warmer weather coming, please be mindful and remember your crime prevention, when inside your property and when leaving your property. * Please ensure if you open a window, always close and lock it when you leave the room or go out! * Hot weather can also lead to increase use of gardens and their associated equipment (bikes, bbq's and gardening tools etc.). Please keep all equipment secure and locked up and out of sight after use. By doing so this will deter any thefts or criminal activity in or around your property. * Remember to close your windows on your cars and don't leave any valuables on display. Often Officers see unattended vehicles with windows left open as owners either forget or are ventilating their vehicles. This is unfortunately an open opportunity for criminals to exploit.
Arrests This week, we have successfully made arrests: officers were alerted during patrol by members of the public about a shop theft this leading to the arrest of two prolific shoplifters that target Warwickshire retail park. As well as addressing incidents reported in our neighbourhood diary and managing scheduled appointments, Officers have also been conducting interviews with those involved in criminal activities.

A Streetwatch group in Dorchester Way where our committed community members are dedicating two hours each month to patrol their local area. They will identify and report any issues to the Police and will be accompanied by Officers at various times during their patrols. If you are interested in establishing a group of your own, please reach out to sam.odell@westmidlands.police.uk.
We are also seeking public assistance for our Community Speedwatch program. Volunteers will receive training to operate a basic speed laser. Following a risk assessment of a road, they will monitor vehicle speeds with Officers and those exceeding the limits will receive letters addressing their driving behaviour. We are only able to have a maximum of five members of the community at one time when undertaking a Community Speedwatch Operation however we can arrange as many as possible that you may want! So please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
Please feel free to send us a message via WMnow for more information regarding this.
Kind Regards, The Stoke & Wyken Neighbourhood Policing Team | ||||
