What’s happening in St Michael's Team 2

What’s happening in St Michael's Team 2

Another rewarding and productive week with St Michael's Team 2

A car was reported stolen in the heart of the City Centre, very aware of the number of cameras in the centre, officers set to work conducting CCTV enquiries in a bid to identify the offender/s. Poor quality CCTV was initially established of 3 youths gaining entry to the vehicle and driving away. Undeterred our officer trawled backwards to identify where these youths had been previous to the offence and were able to capture perfect images. Liaising with local schools the identity of these youths was established and they were subsequently arrested!

A male who interfered with a vehicle, stealing numerous items thinking he had ‘got away’ with his crime …..thought wrong! Forensics provided us with DNA details and within the day officers tracked down and arrested the male.

A number of arrests also for the team for persons failing to appear at court and recalls to prison.

Community interaction- Officers have been working closely with colleagues from Citizen housing this week to joint visit, reassure and support tenants that have been experiencing issues of antisocial behaviour. Everyone has the right to feel safe in their home, not a place to fear and avoid.

Antisocial behaviour takes many forms, from aggressive, noisy or abusive behaviour to neighbourhood disturbances involving drugs, abandoned cars or animals.

If you’ve witnessed antisocial behaviour, please report it to us, there is a designated report tool for anti-social behaviour.

This can be done via 101, live chat or the online reporting tool for ASB www.westmidlands.police.uk/ro/report/asb

With the warmer weather coming, please be mindful and remember your crime prevention, when inside your property and when leaving your property.

Even if you can remember some key steps to help reduce the risk of burglary or vehicle crime…
* Please ensure if you open a window, always close and lock it when you leave the room or go out!
* Hot weather can also lead to increase use of gardens and their associated equipment (bikes, bbq's and gardening tools etc.). Please keep all equipment secure and locked up and out of sight after use. By doing so this will deter any thefts or criminal activity in or around your property.
* Remember to close your windows on your cars and don't leave any valuables on display. Often Officers see unattended vehicles with windows left open as owners either forget or are ventilating their vehicles. This is unfortunately an open opportunity for criminals to exploit.
