Arson St Mary's Bay

Hello all.

There have been 4 reports over the last month of reeds being set alight deliberately along the canal bank in New Bridge Way St Mary's Bay and also very near to the RHDR, the last incident being 23:00 last night (08/05/2025).

It is believed a group of approximately 4 youths are responsible.

If anyone has any CCTV near to the above location for the incident last night please let me know.

To those who are responsible, this is extremely dangerous especially as the weather is dry at the moment and the fire could spread very quickly, endangering homes and therefore people.

On each occasion the Fire Brigade have attended which is wasting their valuable time and resources and also the police's.

Arson is a very serious crime so although it might seem fun to set light to the reeds, it could very quickly turn into a major incident so please stop this immediately.

We have descriptions and will be patrolling the area.

Thank you

Steve.
