Three suspected stolen motorbikes were recovered and a suspect arrested during an operation involving a police dog and drone. Shortly before 11.30pm on 07/05/2025 colleagues were called after a biker travelling home from work was reportedly confronted on Bowbridge Lane, Newark, and threatened with violence. His bike was then ridden away towards the Hawtonville estate. Multiple officers attended the scene and soon alighted on an address in Friars Crescent. As a police drone hovered above with a thermal imaging camera, Police Dog Seth and his handler were deployed to search the back garden. After several minutes they identified a suspect hiding underneath a trampoline and detained him. The bike taken earlier in the evening was recovered, along with another motorcycle reported stolen the previous day. A third suspected stolen bike was recovered at the scene of the initial incident, and a 15-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of robbery and theft. Chief Inspector Paul Hennessy said: “This was another good team effort by multiple officers and control room staff, who worked together to contain a local address, retrieve multiple stolen bikes and bring a suspect into custody. “Our investigation into what happened is continuing, so any other people who were involved can expect a visit from us in the near future.”
