Crown Court OPEN DAY

Bradford Combined Court Open Day this Saturday

Bradford Combined Court Centre will be hosting its second Open Day this Saturday 10 May, opening the doors to visitors to give a first-hand view of the work done in and by the Courts and associated agencies.

The event will provide an interesting mix of exhibitions and demonstrations of our work.

There will be displays and stalls operated by West Yorkshire Police, Bradford Police Museum and H.M. Prison Service and a host of other organisations associated with the work of the Courts, with modern and historic police and prison vehicles on display outside the building and an opportunity to explore the work of various parts of the justice system, with Probation, Barristers and Solicitors and the many agencies who provide support for Court users.

There will be re-enactments of two historic criminal trials as well as civil and family cases – with visitors encouraged to take part and to ask questions about the procedures in use, and also to observe a Judge conducting sentence hearings, explaining how Judges decide on sentences.

The Honorary Recorder of Bradford will host two Question and Answer sessions dealing with all the things you wanted to know about the Criminal Justice System but have never before had the opportunity to ask, and there will be a ‘Diversity and Inclusion Panel’ featuring speakers from the professions demonstrating how open the Law is to people from all sections of society.

For those interested in careers there will be an opportunity to meet and speak with members of the professions, but also with tutors and students from Bradford University’s Schools of Law and of Forensic Science and Anthropology, West Yorkshire Police, His Majesty’s Courts and Tribunal Service and the Magistracy. And last – but certainly not least – it will be possible for visitors to enjoy a tour of the building, taking in a Courtroom and the cells.

This promises to be an exciting day out for anyone interested in the work of the Courts and the people who work in and with the Courts – informative, interesting and, if it all gets too much, ‘Gerry’s’ on-site cafeteria will provide a welcome place to stop off for refreshments.

For more details about the event see the poster attached or search ‘Eventbrite Bradford Combined Court.’ Free admission open 10am – 4pm
