Community Update Merry Hill & Penn, Wolverhampton Residents

Dear Residents,

The Penn and Merry Hill Neighbourhood Policing Team hopes you are all doing well and enjoying the recent nice weather. We want to keep you informed about crime in Merry Hill and Penn, Wolverhampton over the past week and provide reassurance about the work we are doing to keep our community safe.

Below is a summary of reported crimes in the area between May 3rd and May 9th:

  • Theft of a Mercedes E-Class (May 3rd, 14:00 - 14:48) – Lulworth Walk Three suspects arrived at a car park in a black vehicle, approached a white Mercedes E-Class, emptied its contents, and then drove off with it.
  • Attempted Burglary – Business & Community (May 7th, 04:00 - 04:57) – Costcutter Supermarket, Trysull Road Unknown suspects attempted to break into a supermarket by cutting through the front and rear shutters with an angle grinder. They failed to gain entry and fled before police arrived.
  • Theft of a Range Rover Sport (May 8th, 13:13 - 13:16) – Springhill Grove Suspects arrived on a motorbike and gained access to a red Range Rover Sport before speeding away. They did not enter the associated property, and the owner still possesses both sets of keys.
  • Theft of a BMW 320D (May 9th, 01:22 - 01:23) – East Croft Road Three suspects stole a blue BMW 320D from a driveway without using keys, likely utilising a vehicle diagnostic scanner. Two suspects escaped in a separate black vehicle, while the third fled in the stolen BMW.
  • To help combat the growing threat of key-less vehicle theft, we strongly encourage residents to take precautions. One effective way to protect your vehicle is to store your keys in a Defender Signal Blocker or Faraday Pouch, which helps block signals and prevents criminals from cloning your key fob. Simple measures like keeping your keys away from doors and windows can also make a significant difference in safeguarding your vehicle.

Your local neighbourhood policing team will continue patrolling the area to provide reassurance and deter criminal activity. If anyone has information relating to the crimes mentioned, please contact 101 or 999 in an emergency. Alternatively, you can report anonymously to Crime stoppers at 0800 555 111.

Thank you for your continued support, and we hope you enjoy the sunshine!
