May 2025 marks one year since Clive Grunshaw took up his post as Lancashire’s Police and Crime Commissioner.
First elected in 2012, he has served two terms before being reelected for a third in May 2024. Reflecting on his first year in office, Mr Grunshaw said: “It’s an honour to serve Lancashire as Police and Crime Commissioner, and being elected for a third term is a huge privilege. The past year has flown by, with substantial progress made in preventing and tackling crime and anti-social behaviour across Lancashire. “Throughout the year, I have engaged with MPs, stakeholders, and community safety partners across the county to understand their concerns and address issues in their local areas. “I have also consulted with residents to ensure that the priorities set in my Police and Crime Plan align with their expectations from their Commissioner and local police force. “In December 2024, I launched my Police and Crime Plan, focusing on preventing violence against women and girls, tackling crime and anti-social behaviour, addressing serious violence, and rebuilding public trust and confidence. I am pleased to report progress in all these areas. “For the first time, services for victims of crime now include dedicated support for those affected by stalking. Additionally, my Office has secured over £440k to continue tackling domestic abuse and breaking the cycle of repeat offending, thereby protecting victims and their children. “Since taking office, I have been lobbying the Government to address local issues such as the illegal use of e-bikes and scooters, and most importantly, to increase the presence of police officers in our cities, towns, and communities—a key pledge from my campaign. “I have secured an additional £1.7m to fund targeted foot patrols and, crucially, I am pleased to say that we now expect to see an additional 53 officers, 30 PCSOs and 20 Special Constables joining the ranks of Lancashire Constabulary by March 2026 as part of the Government’s Neighbourhood Policing Guarantee. “We know there is always more to do, and I will continue to hold the Chief Constable to account to ensure we make the most of these new resources and deliver the efficient and effective policing service that Lancashire residents rightly expect. “The priorities set in my Police and Crime Plan reflect the feedback from partners and residents. Through strong leadership and rigorous scrutiny, I will continue to deliver results and improvements across all areas to keep Lancashire safe.” Commissioner Grunshaw’s full Police and Crime Plan is available at lancashire-pcc.gov.uk. | ||||
