Dear Resident
Between 07 May 2025 21:30 to 22:50 a burglary took place at Carrington Avenue, Borehamwood
Between material times, the property had been left locked and secured by the owners who left the property on 03/05/25 to go on holiday.
This evening, unknown suspects have appeared to jemmy open and force the front door affording access. Once inside, offenders have conducted a messy search of the address opening wardrobes and drawers searching for property.
The friend who lives close by have heard noises within the address and gone to investigate. They have seen lights on within the address and a figure in a black mask within the property. This suspect then shut the blind. The friend then called police as he was aware that the occupants were away and thought it could have been broken into.

Tips to prevent burglary:
Check downstairs windows and doors are securely locked before you leave or go to bed. Secure UPVC doors by lifting the handle and locking it to engage the security features. Don’t leave keys, phones or other valuables on windowsills or in any other visible place. Securely lock rear gates, sheds and garages. Keep tools and ladders locked away, as they could be used to break into your home. Use laminate glass where possible for any rear doors or windows. If this is not practicable, consider the use of security film over existing windows. Use a “Fake TV” or timer switches on lamps to give the impression someone is at home. Consider using a doorbell camera, interior camera, or a monitored burglar alarm. Consider adding trellis to any side or rear boundaries to add extra height up to a maximum of 2 metres.
Please be vigilant and do report any suspicious activity or behaviour in the area. If you need to report a crime please call 101 or go online here.
