Crime Report Sutton in Ashfield for the week to midnight Wednesday 7 May 2025


Crimes reported over the past seven days.

Burglary Dwelling

At some time before 7.30am on Saturday 3 May in Willow Crescent, Sutton in Ashfield, the barrel of a lock was removed to gain entry to a flat while the occupant was away. A white male in his 40’s, slim build, wearing a grey beanie hat, bluish black fleece and grey tracksuit bottoms, was seen leaving with a rucksack on his back. Later in the day at 2.18pm a further report of two white males and a white female in the address. One male had an Irish accent and was wearing a grey hat, grey jumper black trousers and had a black rucksack. The second male was in black clothing, white trainers and surgical gloves. The female, tall, skinny build, black hair and dressed in grey clothing.

At 9.48pm on Tuesday 6 May in Langford Street, Sutton in Ashfield, a report of four to six youngsters wearing balaclavas on the roof of a building, round the corner, next to the old Blue Bell Inn.

Theft of motor vehicle

Around 11.26pm on Sunday 4 May in Elder Street, Skegby, Sutton in Ashfield, the victim was selling an orange Surron LBX off road electric bike on FB marketplace. A purchaser arrived in a white van, agreed a sale price and handed over, what turned out to be fake money and a mobile phone, before taking a test drive. He never returned. It was later discovered that the phone had been stolen from the owner of the white van, who had been hired to transport the bike. The thief was described as black, male, 5-08”, medium build, wearing a hat and a silver North Face coat.

Theft

At 6.18am on Friday 2 May in Outram Street, Sutton in Ashfield, an underage person gave money to a homeless man asking him to buy some cigarettes for him. The man walked off with the money but when he saw the victim make a call on his phone he chased him. The victim managed to get into the ASDA store using the Northern Bridge entrance and staff gave him assistance. Some of the money was returned but not all. The thief was in his 40’s, wearing a blue jacket and had a dog.. 

At 7.13pm on Friday 2 May at the Idlewells Centre, Sutton in Ashfield, a red Claude Butler Mountain bike, locked in the bike rack, was stolen by a white male, 40 years old, wearing a baseball cap and a sports jacket. He was accompanied by a second male on a pushbike.

Between 1.20pm and 1.25pm on Monday 5 May on York Street, Sutton in Ashfield, a red and black electric bicycle was stolen from outside a property.

Robbery

At 6.00pm on Tuesday 6 May in Priestsic Road, Sutton in Ashfield, an attempt was made to steal an Uber drivers electric bike outside the ASDA Supermarket. A white male 5-10”, slim build, with a face that looked as if it had been in a fight, wearing a grey trilby hat, black coat, navy blue joggers, charged the bike knocking the rider off. He was stopped from taking the bike when the person reporting the incident intervened. 

Criminal Damage

Between 7.00pm and 8.00pm on Saturday 3 May in Ashland Road, Sutton in Ashfield, the occupant of a house heard a bang on the door and discovered that plastic on the door had been cracked

Around 1.00am on Sunday 4 May in Bathwood Drive, Sutton in Ashfield, the outer glass of a panel in a set of Bi-fold doors at the rear of a property was smashed with a ball bearing.

At 12.34am on Tuesday 6 May in Outram Street, Sutton in Ashfield, three white males, 5-08”, wearing dark clothing, all on foot, smashed a window of the New Cross Public House, before heading off down St. Michaels Street.

ASB

At 2.03pm on Monday 5 May in Lammas Road, Sutton in Ashfield, a report of youngsters banging on the windows of a property. This was the third time that day.
