Joint Visits with Tameside Council Trading Standards

Hi Resident,

You may have seen on our main social media pages yesterday (07/05/25) that we did joint visits with Trading Standards on shops suspected of selling illicit tobacco within the Tameside area. In Hyde itself we visited 3 shops and found a large quantity of illegal loose tobacco and cigarettes. Some were hidden in fake walls. All the items were seized by Trading Standards and any possible fines or prosecutions will be taken forward by them.

If you suspect that a business is selling illicit tobacco you can report it to Trading Standards through Trading Standards and Consumer Services at Tameside Metropolitan Borough Council - Tameside MBC

The trade in illicit tobacco can have a big impact on communities and can often be a cover for other crimes. Click on Let’s stamp out illegal tobacco in Greater Manchester - Baroness Beverley Hughes | Keep It Out to find out more.

Regards,

The Hyde Godley Team.
