Dear resident, on Saturday 3rd May 2025, Operation Vulcan deployed to Derker to address the antisocial use of off-road bikes, which have been linked to criminal activities such as drug dealing, robbery, and dangerous driving. 

The operation employed additional specialist Resources, including the National Police Air Service, which utilised a fixed-wing aircraft equipped with cameras to monitor and track the use of these bikes, allowing for the implementation of specialised tactics to recover the vehicles and prosecute the riders.

 Additionally, the Police Motorcycle Unit and Roads Policing Unit, comprised of advanced tactical drivers, executed these strategies with the support of Operation Vulcan staff, who provided essential local insights to facilitate an efficient and rapid operation.

The following was acheived;

2 x Arrests – concerned in the supply of class B drugs

1 x Arrest - Drink Drive

4 x Summons to court for driving/riding offences

6 x child care plans submitted

1 x Illegal E-Bike seized

1 x Road motorbike

2 x Off-road motorbike

1 x outstanding stolen vehicle recovered on false plates

4 x no licence offences

4 x no insurance offences

1 x fail to stop

17 x stop & searches – 7 positive for drugs, criminal property (cash) and bike keys linking them to bikes seized. 

I can confirm that the use of ‘Beal Valley’ via Meek St (off Shaw Road) is not a place where off road bikes can be used lawfully. False information has been provided that this area can be used for planned meets - this is not the case. 

Any vehicle using the valley to cause anti social behaviour via driving off road vehicles can expect their vehicle to be seized and to be summonsed to court.
