Back with the Weekly Round-up!

Good Evening Resident,

Here's a quick round up from me and the rest of the Wolverhampton City Centre Neighbourhood Policing Team.

Whats Been Happening.

  • Missing Persons - Our city centre team has been hard at work in partnership with the BID and security teams within the Mander centre and Wulfrun centre, making sure that any missing persons reported through 101/999 were found promptly if they we within the City Centre area.
  • Arrests - Arrests were made this week in relation to some shop thefts and breaches of Community Protection Notices. Also after a string of offences, a prolific shoplifter within the city centre and wider areas of Wolverhampton was sentenced to a 3 year and 6 month prison term.
  • Guardian Patrols - As always we are continuing our patrols targeting Anti-Social Behaviour and Violent Crime. These are patrols we carry out multiple times a week, with a positive result on the community. With the warmer weather we had had this week we have been focusing our patrols on St Peters Gardens with a good outcome.
  • Night-Time Economy - Our officers were out and about this Friday and Saturday doing their patrols accompanied by some student officers, some attention was paid early in the evening around the Halls where Gary Barlow was in town. A quiet weekend all round with everyone gearing up for a fun-filled bank holiday no doubt!
  • Purse Dippers - This week our officers were out in plain clothes patrolling around the Market on Dudley street, the Mander and Wulfrun centres, on the look out for purse dippers. Please whilst your out in the city centre can you make sure your bags and purses are sealed and secured, and do not leave Mobile Phones in view. For further information on how to keep yourself protected, please refer back to the e-mail i sent out a few days ago entitle ‘Distraction Theft’.
  • Safe Haven - It aims to make the city’s streets a friendly and welcoming place for all who head into the city centre to enjoy our restaurants, pubs, bars and nightclubs. After all a great night out is a safe night out.

The Late Night Safe Haven acts as a place of safety providing care, advice and assistance for anyone who attends. Free cups of water are available and visitors to the provision on Queen Square will receive support to help them arrange to get home. Follow our social media pages for dates of operation.

The Safe Haven not only reduces the pressure on local accident and emergency departments but also offers support to local licensed venues as well as assisting in the reduction of night-time anti-social behaviour in the city. The Night First Aid Team make a real difference by their proactive, positive and engaging approach.

  • This took place on Friday 3rd and Saturday 4th, Queens Square from 10.30pm.

Vaisakhi Parades - With the upcoming Vaisakhi celebrations due to happen on Sunday 4th May, please be aware of road closures in and around the city.

  • Upcoming Events - Cuppa with a Copper. 08/05/2025, Wolverhampton Central Library 12pm-2pm.
