The National Police Dog Trials takes place next week

Next week we will be hosting the 63rd annual National Police Dog Trials.

The event begins on Wednesday (7 May) when we will welcome police dogs and their handlers taking part in the trials from across the United Kingdom.

This year, the following will represent West Midlands Police as they compete at the National Police Dog Trials.

Sgt Matt Colston with PD Charlie, PC H Loi with PD Dredd and PC Lisa Phillips with PD Lightning.

Next Saturday (10 May), we will also be hosting the National Police Dog Trials Community Open Day at Tally Ho.

This will be a free event but tickets are going fast. Reserve yours by clicking here.

We will have live demonstrations from departments such as our Drones, Firearms and our police puppies will also be making an appearance.

West Midlands Fire and Ambulance Services will also hold demonstrations.

Chief Inspector Dan Lowe from our Operations Unit, said: “We’re looking forward to hosting the 63rd National Police Dog Trials and seeing many of you next week

at our community open day.

“Our police dog teams are extremely valuable to police forces and we couldn’t do this job without their support. Over the years, our dogs have had incredible results detaining offenders, finding missing and vulnerable people and recovering vital evidence.

“Every day they work to keep our communities safe in the West Midlands and across the country. We can’t wait to showcase their skills and show you how amazing they really are.

“All of those competing will be showcasing skill, control and discipline of the highest standard.

“We look forward to seeing many of you at our community open day.”
