We have recently had an increase in complaints regarding parking issues at school pick up and drop off times at Airmyn Primary School. We understand that this is a busy time and parking is limited, however obstructing residents’ drives, parking opposite junctions and on pavements is not acceptable and potentially puts a child’s life at risk.
There has also been the suggestion that when residents challenge , they are verbally abused, which is totally unacceptable and potentially a criminal offence. We are working alongside the school to help resolve these issues that are happening away from the school jurisdiction. Over the last few weeks Safer Roads Humber have attended the school to speak to the children about road safety and parking. On the back of this we are also running a poster competition to help get the park safely message across. The winning poster will be distributed throughout the village as a reminder and put onto a large banner.
We want to encourage residents to report any further parking offences to us via 101 or online, with the make/model and VRM of the subject vehicle. Words of advice will be initially given to the driver of the vehicle , and if they choose to ignore this then we will be issuing fines. Please be courteous and considerate to the local community even if this means you must park slightly further away from the school and walk.
