Dear Members, Here’s a quick round up from the South Yardley neighbourhood policing team. What’s been happening: AOB: Neighbourhood Restructure has been announced and more information is still being delivered over the coming days and we are waiting on this. Neighbourhood officers currently form as one team, this will now split into each ward having a Dedicated Neighbourhood Officer (DNO) and the others will become Local Action Team (LAT). DNO will support with long term problem solving in their ward and the LAT will be supporting the areas with local demand and support of response. This will allow the community to have a point of contact with ongoing problems in the area with the DNO. Further information on this will be shared once we have this ourselves. You will all be informed of who your DNO is in June.
The team have also been under additional demand in the last week, causing the team to support other areas of the Force. As a result, this has taken officers away from being able to be proactive in their patrols. We have asked other teams to support in our absence. With this being said, we have operations planned and they are still going ahead. Business Watch – We are currently trying to support business with issues that are currently having. We want to remind anyone attending to the Yew Tree in vehicles to use the car park where possible and not block any driveways, pavements, delivery entrance and exit points and to not park on Zigzags. We will have to currently place these meetings on hold until the DNO is appointed, they are currently scheduled after the officer is appointed so these still may go ahead or dates will be changed. Dates have not been released at this stage. Empowered Steps: This took place on the 17th April at 10:30. We want to encourage more Women in the area to get involved and if you are not wanting to let us know why this maybe. We want to help address any barriers you are facing or feeling. Further dates will come out in due course. Street Watch: We had conducted a Street Watch session in the last week and we are wanting you to support your community further. Why not join up to our street watch programme? If you are interested please do not hesitate to contact the below details and we will get you signed up. South Yardley Website: We are now updating this every month with our priorities and actions we have taken and we have taken including upcoming events. Keep your eyes peeled.
