Good afternoon all,
Operation Kidbrook II - took place this morning on Wednesday 30th April 2025 from 09:00 hours-12:30 hours with the support of Roads Policing - Motorbikes, Mike Pearce, Simon Pond, SNT – North PC’s and PCSO’s, Telford and Wrekin Licensing Compliance officers and Telford and Wrekin Road Safety Team.
We were based at the unused car park of Telford College which was situated on Haybridge Road. This location gives access for vehicles to be brought in and be dealt with from Arleston/Wellington/Hadley, as it had adequate spacing. Being based at the location you have in view the traffic lights/bus lane by Wellington Fire Station, It worked really well as motorists on previous operations would have earlier sight of police and make a U-turn prior, but there was more success with the new location with contravening the bus lane/red light.
From SNT we have a good relationship with the Telford College and they have provided the padlock code for Police to use at any time if needed.
This traffic operation was organised due to a confidence survey of West Mercia Police to which from Arleston/Welington was identified as having an issue with Anti-Social Driving, Excessive Speeds. In recent media there was also the conviction of Mr LAL for the driving incident on Watling Street. We will look to conduct more operations to promote reassurance and confidence within our community. We have now also begun partnership working with Telford and Wrekin Council Safer Roads Team.
Speaking with T&W Council they are going to also identify locations that may be of use across Telford to hold upcoming partnership events.
Thank you for all your work today and believe the operation was another successful operation. PC Day obtained statistics recorded on site today – if you have any further TOR’s or vehicles stopped out an about, can you let me know for the results of the operation to be amended if needed. It was noted;
27 Traffic Offence Reports completed, and 4 Vehicles were seized and recovered, the traffic offences recorded were for;
• No Seatbelt • Contravene a bus lane • Driving other than in accordance with a driving licence • Excessively Tinted Glass and glass not as prescribed for lights on vehicle • PG9 Prohibition Offence • Use of a motor vehicle with no insurance • Two vehicles failed to stop for a PCSO • “Good Egg Safety” for #OPCORAL advice given to motorists • Use handheld mobile/communication device whilst driving
Also, multiple taxi’s were brought into the location which were of Telford & Wrekin, Shropshire and Wolverhampton councils, vehicles were checked by Senior compliance officers and dealt with for traffic offences such as Tyres – being less than the 1.6mm tread depth.
Lastly I was aware that Alex Watson (T&W Council) did some PR on scene with interviewing officers and council members present, if there are any images which were also taken can they be sent to me, to be able to share on socials?)
Many Thanks
