Message from the system administrators

I am writing as a Director of VISAV Limited, we are the UK company that designed, host and support the police community messaging platform (Neighbourhood Alert) across the UK.  We are also the joint data controllers for the entire system including the 35 UK police force areas that continue to use the platform.  As such we are responsible for the security of your data and need to let you know about any significant changes to the system.

It is with some regret that I need to inform you that Northumbria Police have advised VISAV that they have ceased to use Northumbria Connected to email crime and policing information directly to members.  Northumbria Police intend to give updates on the Nextdoor social media system. You will also be able to read their latest news on Facebook, X, Instagram, Linkedin if you use those social media channels or via their website. 

What do you do next? 

We hope you would like to continue to receive occasional messages via the system from other trusted partners such as Neighbourhood Watch, Action Fraud, and other national providers we are currently engaging with.  If so, you need not do anything.  The messages you receive in the future on this platform will continue to be from a trusted source, are private, free of charge and free from third party commercial interests. 

In due course the Northumbria Connected email and website branding will be replaced with the core Neighbourhood Alert branding.  You can configure who sees your data and sends you messages by clicking on the settings button below.  If you’d prefer to come off the system all together please use the unsubscribe link below, go to settings, and unsubscribe or simply reply and we will remove you from the system.

What if I'm unhappy with this process? 

VISAV are the owners and operators of the Neighbourhood Alert communication platform and are not responsible for this decision.  If you have any observations or comments, please do not reply to this message as Northumbria Police will not have sight of them.

Our objective is to facilitate trusted engagement between the police and communities and thank you for your participation thus far.  We hope you elect to remain on the system, all be it without local police participation, but equally will swiftly honour your un-subscription if you so wish.
