Neighbourhood Policing Update

Hello from the Broxtowe Borough Neighbourhood Policing Team Inspector.

This month I attended a meeting with Broxtowe Borough Council.  We discussed concerns raised by residents and partners.

Current priorities:

Drug offences

In April drugs warrants were executed at addresses across the ward.  Police did not locate any drugs at one address in Eastwood.  There were persons present at the address, where one person was arrested for being wanted by police.  Broxtowe Borough Housing are aware who will work with the occupant and take appropriate action where necessary.  Another address in Bramcote was attended and Cannabis plants were seized. This investigation is ongoing.

Shop Theft - Op Shrinkage

NPT have acted upon concerns from businesses and Councillors for Beeston.  NPT has been out patrolling and speaking with the public about their concerns for ASB and shop theft.  NPT arrested two prolific shoplifters, Lee KEETON and Luke OSEI.  KEETON was recalled to prison for breaching his terms and OSEIL pleaded guilty to a few shop thefts. Road related offences

NPT, Roads Policing Unit and officers from Road Crime Team have carried out Op Wheelspin in April. Regrettably, there was activity over Easter bank holiday along the A52.  Police did attend and patrol to identify those involved.  Unfortunately, vehicles had already dispersed.  Police will continue to review information to identify any vehicles and take appropriate action.  Overall, patrols have led to a reduction in car cruising in April.  Officers have patrolled with marked and unmarked vehicles.  Officers acted against anti-social drivers across the areas including, seizing a vehicle without insurance.  There has been a reduction of the presence of cars at the Toton Park and Ride Tram and at Chilwell Retail Park.  This operation will continue to run.

The Off Rd Bike Team were out patrolling in April on areas across the whole Borough that have been raised as a concern. Which included, Narrow Lane, Kew Gardens, Stapleford, Trowell, Horsendale and Broxtowe Country Park. A Sur-Ron motorbike was seized at Toton Tram Stop, which was being rode illegally.

Community Concerns

The current concerns are ASB in Beeston Town Centre. A dispersal Order was issued last weekend 25-27 April.   This is due to reports of crime and ASB to the police from members of the public, partners, youth clubs, and businesses.  This links to groups of teenagers and young persons, male and female gathering in groups causing disorder, they are cycling carelessly, participating in assaults and thefts. Response and Neighbourhood Teams patrolled the area, engaged with people.  Section 35 notices were issued enabling officers informing those involved that they cannot return to the area for the specified period if they do, they will be arrested for failing to comply with the dispersal notice.  Linked to the Dispersal Notice police arrested suspects on suspicion of burglary, these enquiries are ongoing.

If I could also take this opportunity to remind people about Notts Alerts.
