We are appealing for witnesses and information following an assault in Plymouth.

The incident took place on Plymouth Hoe next to the Naval memorial at around 4.50pm on Monday 31 March.

It was reported the suspect used racist language towards the victim before punching and biting him, resulting in the victim being taken to hospital.

The suspect and victim were not known to each other.

The suspect is described as a male of Asian heritage, aged in his 20s or 30s, around 5ft 10ins tall of slim build. He has medium length dark hair that is longer on top and shorter on the sides and no facial hair.

He was wearing a dark blue tracksuit top with a green top underneath, tracksuit bottoms and trainers and carrying a tan brown bag.

The suspect was last seen walking along Armada Way towards Citadel Road.
