Vehicle nuisance patrols

The team have been out over the last few weekends and working with Roads Policing Unit in targeting car meets and street racing.

We have seen reports of 50 vehicles gathering on the outskirts of Hilton, Bonnie Prince, Chellaston area and some Anti social behaviour in vehicles at Sainsburys Swadlincote.

Officers have attended in marked and unmarked vehicles to capture any offences or dangerous driving and to disperse the meets.

Whilst at Sainsburys, officers monitoring the group moved away for a short period to see if the drivers could behave themselves- this proved to not be the case as within 1 minute of leaving, we witnessed one newly passed 20 year old decide to thrash his family hatchback car the length of the car park, showing off his driving skills of ….driving fast in a straight line before heavily breaking.

Not quite what was taught in their test!
Section 59 warning issued to this driver which stays with them for 12 months meaning any further driving in this manner witnessed by Police the vehicle can be seized- as many times as required during that period.
