Please be aware there has been an increase in hoax calls to emergency services.

It is important for children and young people to know how to call 999 but it is also important that they understand the number should only be used in a genuine emergency. Hoax calls are not only a waste of resources but they are also a criminal offence and can endanger lives. They can tie up emergency services and delay response times for genuine emergencies. Making a hoax call can have consequences such as fines and/or imprisonment. Please take a few minutes to talk to your children about this.
