Dog seized in Lydney following reports of animal suffering

Police have seized a dog from an address in Lydney following reports that her owner was causing animal suffering.

Officers received a 999 call last Friday (18 April) reporting that a man had been seen beating his dog, an English Bull Terrier cross, in the town.

The man was identified along with further similar reports which showed that this was not the first time the dog had been beaten.

A welfare check was made on the dog and, following further information, she has now been taken away by our Dog Section for her safeguarding.

No arrests have been made but we are continuing to investigate, working closely alongside the RSPCA. Anyone with additional information is asked to contact us on 101, quoting incident 369 of 23 April.

Information can also be submitted by completing the following online form: https://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/

If you are concerned for the welfare of an animal, you can contact either Gloucestershire Police or the RSPCA through their website to report it: www.rspca.org.uk/reportaconcern
