Summer Safety Tips for Outdoor Events. Enjoy the Fun, Stay Safe! 🎪🍦

Hi everyone,

With summer in full swing and lots of outdoor events happening locally from village fêtes to music festivals, picnics and family barbecues — here are a few easy tips to help you enjoy the season safely and comfortably:

🧴 1. Sun Protection is a Must
Don’t forget sun cream (SPF 30 or higher), sunglasses, and a hat especially for kids. Reapply sun cream every couple of hours, particularly if you're sweating or in water.

💧 2. Stay Hydrated
Bring a reusable water bottle and top it up regularly. Dehydration can sneak up quickly on warm days, especially if you're walking around or drinking alcohol.

🏃 3. Know Your Surroundings
Agree on a meeting point in case anyone gets separated, especially in busy areas. Great for families or groups of friends.

🧺 4. Pack Smart
Essentials might include:

  • Hand sanitiser or wipes
  • A picnic blanket or camping chair
  • Plasters or a mini first-aid kit
  • Light layers for when the sun goes down
  • 🌭 5. Food Safety
If you’re bringing your own food, keep it cool with ice packs and avoid anything that spoils easily. Watch out for wasps near sweet treats and bins!

    🚗 6. Plan Your Journey
Check travel, parking, or public transport updates ahead of time and don’t forget to book taxis or arrange a designated driver if needed.

    🎆 7. Respect Local Rules & Nature
Keep noise down after hours, dispose of litter properly, and be mindful of wildlife and green spaces.

    🐶 8. Pets & Heat Don’t Mix
If it's a hot day, it’s best to leave pets at home where it's cool. If you do bring them, make sure they’ve got shade and plenty of water.

Let’s make this a summer to remember safely and sensibly! 🌻

    Enjoy the sunshine
