Hi neighbours, Just a quick reminder to be on the lookout for common fraud tactics that are sadly becoming more widespread across the UK. Fraudsters are clever, but with a few tips, we can all stay one step ahead: 🔹 1. Fake Delivery Texts or Emails Looks like it’s from Royal Mail, Evri or DPD? Be cautious! Don’t click links asking for payment or personal info. Always go directly to the official site or app to check deliveries. 🔹 2. Bank Scams You may get a call or text claiming to be from your bank about “suspicious activity.” Hang up and call your bank using the number on the back of your card. Never share your PIN or passcodes. 🔹 3. HMRC or Government Scams Scammers often pretend to be from HMRC saying you owe tax or are due a refund. HMRC will never demand urgent payments via phone or text. 🔹 4. Investment & Crypto Scams If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Be wary of “get rich quick” schemes or strangers encouraging you to invest. Always seek professional, regulated advice. 🔹 5. Romance or Friendship Scams Fraudsters build fake relationships online and ask for money over time. Trust your gut, and speak to friends or family if unsure. ✅ Top Tips to Stay Safe: Don’t rush – scammers want you to act quickly.Double-check contact details – don’t trust caller ID.Report suspicious messages to 7726 (free SMS service). If in doubt, talk to someone you trust. |
