Preventing theft of motorbikes, mopeds and scooters

Dear Neighbourhood Watch Co-ordinator,

Did you see the recent Cheshire Alert message from your Crime Prevention Officer.

We are trying to provide people with information to help protect themselves from becoming a victim of a vehicle crime, specifically moped, motorcycle and scooter theft.

It only takes thieves a matter of seconds to steal and so remember:

LOCK, CHAIN, COVER

Remove keys – simple, right?

Property mark - Marking as much of your bike as possible will make it more difficult for criminals to sell parts on, and therefore less attractive to steal.

Fit an alarm – a quality Thatcham approved, professionally fitted alarm system will not only put off thieves but could also reduce your insurance premiums.

Where possible store in a garage/shed - Fit a garage door defender or upgrade garage door locks. Garage and shed alarms as well as low level dusk to dawn lighting will also enhance security. Fitting a ground anchor also provides extra security.
