Local crime Below is a snapshot of the crime that has been recorded in the Shirley area between the 1st April 2025 to the 9th April 2025: Burglaries: Between midnight on the 26th March 2025 and 19:18pm on the 2nd April 2025 individual(s) have removed the rear UPVC window from a property on The Bridle Path. They have then stolen a large amount of electrical goods and power tools from within.At 02:43am on the 2nd April 2025 a male opened the porch door of a house on St James Place. He then tried to open the front door, noticed it was locked and walked away. Vehicle crime: Between 03:00am and 09:16am on the 5th April 2025 a blue Lexus IS 200 LE was stolen from Green Hill Way.Between 23:00pm on the 31st March 2025 and 05:00am on the 1st April 2025 individual(s) have damaged the rear doors on a Peugeot Partner 600 van that was parked on Union Road. They have then stolen power tools from inside the van.Between 20:00pm on the 31st March 2025 and 22:00pm on the 1st April 2025 individual(s) have broken into a brown Citroen C4 Picasso that was parked on Harnall Close. They have then stolen two bottles of perfume from inside the car.Between 14:49pm and 15:28pm on the 3rd April 2025 the drivers side window of a white Volkswagon Golf that was parked in Sears Retail Park, Chalford Way was smashed. Money was then taken from inside the car.Between 02:25am and 10:45am on the 4th April 2025 a blue Suzuki GS 1000 GT motorbike was stolen from Highlands Road. The bike was later found in bushes at a different location.At 17:00pm on the 5th April 2025 a black Lexmoto motorbike was stolen from the car park of Next, Marshall Lake Road. Individuals snapped the lock was securing the bike. Between 18:40pm and 18:50pm on the 2nd April 2025 a silver Ford Focus was stolen from the driveway of a house on Limbrick Close.Between 21:10pm and 21:11pm on the 4th April 2025 a grey Toyota Corolla was stolen from the drive way of a house on Hurdis Road.Between 10:45am and 10:50am on the 6th April 2025 the drivers blue disability badge was stolen from within a insecure purple Peugeot 107 that was parked in the ASDA car park, Parkgate. Crime prevention Please consider purchasing a steering wheel lock for your vehicle. This will decrease the chances of your vehicle being targeted by offenders. Also remember to double check that your vehicle is locked, before leaving it unattended. This can also be crucial in linking criminals to multiple crimes. As a result, local officers have been conducting targeted patrols in these locations, with the aim of providing a visible presence, engaging with the local community and deterring this type of behaviour. When your local Officers are off duty, these patrols are conducted by policing teams from other areas, ensuring that there is continual coverage. Officers record the results of these patrols and the information is then returned to the home office. Your local officers have been hard at work conducting these patrols, so please feel welcome to have a chat when you see us.Shirley officers have now trained volunteers for a brand-new Shirley Speedwatch group. This group, along with officers from our team, will be conducting Speedwatch operations in the local area to monitor reports of speeding. This data can then be used for speed enforcement in the future. Shirley officers arrested a prolific shoplifter as part of an operation conducted on the 5th April 2025.Shirley officers have been enforcing the Solihull School Streets initiative on Clifton Crescent this week. Please avoid driving down this road, weekdays between 08:30am-09:10am and 14:45pm- 15:45pm unless you have a permit, as you may receive a fixed penalty notice.
