Op Fearless update

Good Afternoon

After the Operation Fearless team hit 100 arrests, they are continuing to relentlessly target those involved in crime in Erdington.

Officers had been in contact with two businesses on the High Street which had reported staff being threatened by a man with a gun.

Fearless officers tracked a suspect on CCTV, and arrested him after spotting him near to the High Street.

Following their investigation, a 28-year-old man from Erdington has now been charged with two counts of possession of an imitation firearm in a public place.

Tackling drug crime remains a priority for the Fearless team, as it’s something that people in the area say they’re concerned about.

Already this week, four people have been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs. The Fearless team also seized a quantity of suspected Class B drugs as part of this operation. We know how frustrating shop theft is for business owners, and the wider community in Erdington, and the Operation Fearless team are always looking to identify and arrest suspects.

In the last week alone, six people have been arrested and charged with shop theft offences on the high street.

As well as working positively to help businesses deal with crime, Fearless officers will also take action against any businesses profiting from counterfeit and illegal goods.

Just yesterday (25 March), multiple boxes of illegal vapes and counterfeit cigarettes were seized by officers, and intelligence led them to find further items hidden in the ceiling of a shop.

Those items have all been seized and will now be processed by our partners at Birmingham City Council Trading Standards.

Partnership work is key to Operation Fearless, and working with colleagues from the West Midlands Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU), the team arrested two people for immigration matters at a suspected adult sex location.

If you’re in Erdington and you see our officers out and about – come and say hello, and let them know any concerns you have about crime in the area.

You can also report crime using Live Chat on our website, or by calling 101. Always call 999 in an emergency.

As Operation Fearless continues to get results in Erdington, other parts of the West Midlands are set to benefit from its intense activity.

Kindest Regards

Georgina
