||
Dear Resident
This alert relates to vehicle break-ins. Both incidents took place in Widmore Drive where it is reported that an unknown male, possibly someone who lives very locally, has managed to gain access to two separate cars and stolen cash and bank cards. These incidents have been timed as a morning event at approximately 9.30am, but the individual may have been in the road earlier and acting in a suspicious way.
If you or your neighbours have any information relating to these two crimes, or if you have captured any relevant footage on your CCTV or doorbell camera, please contact the police non-emergency number 101, quoting crime number 41/21584/25 and 41/21579/25 Alternatively, you can give information anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Please be vigilant and report any suspicious activity in the area.
Tips to prevent vehicle crime: 1. Ensure you lock doors and shut windows when leaving your vehicle unattended. 2. Always remove keys, even if you’re just stopping to buy fuel. 3. Never leave valuables in your vehicle, even carrier bags – not even in the glove box or boot. 4. Be aware of your keys. Don’t leave them unattended, or in pockets in changing rooms, or visible through your windows or front door. 5. If you have a vicinity key, keep it in a signal blocking pouch away from the front of your house. 6. Store car ownership documents at home, not in your car. 7. Secure number plates with anti-theft screws.
