**Neighbourhood Policing Area Commander Update** - No Video!
No video today as like a good number of officers I am out and about in the City Centre aiming to ensure that those who are out can enjoy themselves without the small minority ruining it for everyone!.. No one needs to see a video of me at this time of night!
The last two weeks in East Leicester have seen us having multi agency meetings around the upcoming Vaisakhi Celebrations, Ramadan month as a whole and I was lucky enough to pop by the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir to chat to trusted partners there about issues they are facing and the opportunities we can create by working together!
Officers at East Leicester are looking to take on the "challenge" of fasting for a day in order to try and better understand the effort that our Muslim communities put themselves through during Ramadan so watch this space.. It may be that putting on the Christmas weight may help me with this one.
I have spoken recently about the exploitation and drugs issues that have been highlighted by you around the Thurncourt/Thurnby Lodge area and it is absolutely brilliant to be able to feedback that this week we have conducted a number of enforcements across the area.
To date there have been 14 arrests in total who have been interviewed and bailed whilst enquiries carry on and through the superb work by our own neighbourhood priority team and others we have managed to find key evidence including drugs, cash and mobile devices! The lengthy investigation and very early mornings were well worth it.
Lastly we have been in discussion with the council about the upcoming Public Spaces Protection Order that has been under consultation (http://leicspolice.link/p1N8a). Whilst the review on feedback goes on we have been looking at what we can do on the East to utilise similar powers to mitigate the anti-social behaviour of the few which impacts so much on the many!
Thank you for all the support you are providing. Please keep in touch with us by signing up and talking with us through http://leicspolice.link/eJNvO !
