Good afternoon everyone,
I hope you are all having a great week.
Suspicious incident, Clermont Avenue update…
Following receiving reports on 04/03/2025 that a male had been seen going into the front gardens of properties on Clermont Avenue, I am happy to report that I am confident that I have identified the male involved and he has been spoken to regarding this incident.
Rough sleeper update
Yesterday I was notified of a male rough sleeping in the vicinity of Imandra Close. I have spoken to the male and today liaised with the Rough Sleeper Team in order to get him help and support.
On 03/03/2025 I attended Trentham Academy and listened to a knife crime talk given by Alison Cope to year 9 students. Alison's son Joshua Ribera was tragically murdered in 2013 following an horrific knife attack….he was 18 years old.
Alison travels the country giving talks to young persons, telling Joshua's story. Alison is incredibly inspiring, bravely talking about such a tragic event in the hope that no other family has to go through such a loss.
Thank you to Trentham Academy for organising this talk. If you would like to learn more about Alison and the fantastic work she is doing, she has a website, Alison Cope| Anti-Violence Campaigner.
On 04/03/2025 I attended Priory CE Academy to complete a JR CADETS course with year 5 students. 10 students were taught about forensics, finger printing, how to preserve evidence, what is and the impact of anti-social behaviour.
They were also taught the Phonetic alphabet. This was something I did not learn until I joined the Police. I remember having to rapidly learn my full name phonetically during a lesson break and then being asked say it out load in front of everyone in my training class - thinking the whole time, why did I not learn this earlier!!
Do you know it? - If not, I have put it below. One fun way to learn it is at home. Find a room, find objects around you and say what they are phonetically. For example… what is F for Floor? = Foxtrot, What is D for Door? = Delta, What is T for Television? = Tango and so on.
During the course, PC Sheldon called in to say hello, answer questions and the cadets had the chance to see a police vehicle and put on the lights. Well done everyone for completing the course!! Each cadet has received a JR Cadet badge with certificates to be given out in assembly.
Police contact numbers & how to report incidents.
Incidents can be reported by calling 101 in non-emergencies and 999 in emergencies. Non-emergency incidents can also be reported online at www.staffordshire.police.uk
I often speak with members of the public who when they have come across an incident, were not sure if they should call the Police, sometimes hesitating in whether or not to call 999.
I wanted to reassure everyone that if you call 999 and if the call taker feels that what you are reporting is not an emergency, they will simply ask you to hang up and call 101 (the Police non-emergency number).
Please have confidence in calling 101 & 999 - we are here to help.
Reporting to the Police ensures incidents are recorded and resourced promptly. As a local officer for the area, these reports help greatly in knowing what is happening on the area.
*Please could I kindly ask that incidents are not reported through Smart Alerts, as the system is not monitored 24/7. If I am off duty or on holiday etc messages may not get seen until I return to duty - thank you *

Roads Policing
We have been made aware of a number of roads policing issues across the area, these include:
*Speeding on Burrington Dr, Jonathan Rd, Trentley Rd, and Mayne Street. *Vehicles not adhering to the no entry sign on Diarmid Road and the Access only signs on Boma Rd. *Concerns have also been raised regarding vehicles blocking drives on Boma Rd and limiting access for emergency vehicles.
The neighbourhood policing team will be doing our best to address these issues. Concerns regarding these issues can be reported on 101, whereby we can try to get additional resources into the area to help address these issues.
Police Street Surgery
TONIGHT - I will be at Clermont Avenue 18:30 - 18:45.
Patrol updates
Please find below a list of the locations I have visited this week. Have a great rest of the week everyone!!
Kind regards,
Scott
