Police: New Dedicated Neighbourhood Officer for the beat

Good Afternoon Rutland,

I would like to introduce myself to you all as I have taken over from PC Rebecca Angel as the beat officer for Oakham and Barleythorpe.

A little bit of background about me, I have been a Police Constable for 18 years. Initially when I joined I worked in the Youth Offending Service in the city centre and then in the Antisocial Behaviour Unit for a year. I moved to be based at Beaumont Leys spending my first 5 years on response covering Beaumont, New Parks, Braunstone and Leicester city centre at weekends, driving the Ford Focus estates should anyone recall them?

At Beaumont Leys I progressed into the Local Investigation Unit and then the Neighbourhood Investigation Unit and Prisoner Processing Team moving to Hinckley Road Police Station and working from there in both Investigation and Neighbourhood departments.

After a couple of years at Hinckley Road I transferred to Euston Street Police Station again into the Force Investigation Unit  and then made a move into Prison Crime Investigations where I remained for several years.

In 2021 I transferred to a regional role working within a prison establishment in the county.

In Feb 2023 I returned to local policing and for the first time transferred to the counties covering Melton Mowbray, Belvoir and Rutland on response.

The opportunity presented itself to become the Dedicated Neighbourhood Officer for Oakham and Barleythorpe so I submitted my application, was successful and here I am!

I look forward to working alongside you and assisting the residents of Oakham, Barleythorpe and Rutland in conjunction with PCSO Lyall.

Many Thanks,

Mari
