General update - Capel & Paddock Wood

Dear Residents.

I apologise for the lack of updates over the last few weeks. Between incidents, general duties and annual leave I haven't had the chance to write an update. I'll continue to put these posts out whenever I can to keep you all in the loop.

Firstly, I want to make you aware that a colleague and I attended a report of a racially aggravated public order offence in Paddock Wood yesterday. I will not go into details of the report, but please know this will never be tolerated and work will continue to ensure the offenders are brought to justice.

As some of you may be aware over the last month or so, we have responded to trotting races on the A228. Whilst this has been a contentious issue for years, I will be working with my colleagues that cover the areas that border Capel and Paddock Wood in an attempt to deal with any offences and look to ensure the safety of all road users in the area. I know that over the weekends I have been able to respond to these incidents, that multiple tickets have been given to individuals that have committed traffic offences and this will continue in the future.

In regard to Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) I am aware of the further reports of catapults in the area and have continued the work on patrolling the area and identifying any individuals involved. I have worked with Mascalls and our Child Centred Policing Team to get these individuals identified and intervene where possible. This work will continue with any anti-social behaviour as my colleagues and I want to ensure any young person identified is dealt with and diverted away from this behaviour.

On a more positive note, I am looking forward to working with the community warden Sophie who has recently been appointed to Paddock Wood. She has already done some fantastic work getting to know residents, local businesses and her involvement in setting up the Community Information Day. This will be held on Tuesday 18 February 2025 between 10am-1pm at the Paddock Wood Community Centre, Maidstone Road, Paddock Wood, Kent, TN12 6EB (poster attached).

Thank you for your continued support in my role as the Beat Officer for Capel and Paddock Wood. Please ensure that all incidents that you believe necessary are reported to the relevant agencies. As always, please ensure that anything reported to Kent Police is reported via the correct channels:

999 - Emergency/crime in progress.

101/Online reporting - Non-emergency.

Kind regards,

PC Connor Geelan.

Beat Officer - Capel and Paddock Wood.
