Dear Resident
We're appealing for witnesses following an incident of false imprisonment in Amersham.
Between 4pm and 4.15pm on Sunday 22 December 2024, the victim, a woman in her twenties, got in a taxi outside Oakfield Corner on Hill Ave, near the Natwest bank. A disagreement then ensued between the victim and the taxi driver around the cost of the journey.
The victim asked to take a bus instead, and the driver locked the car doors and refused to let the victim out.
The victim was let out when a crowd formed around the taxi, and the driver sped away.
The offender is described as a middle-aged Asian man and was seen to be wearing a beige or green suit jacket.
The taxi is described as silver saloon car, potentially a Mercedes.
We are interested to hear from members of the public who formed a small crowd around the taxi, and also those who helped the victim after the incident.
