Community Protection Warnings (CPW)'s issued to beggars outside of Morrisons, Kingsway.

Good Morning,

Update from PC BAXENDALE (Neighbourhood Officer for the Pennine's)-

On Wednesday 15th January 2025, myself and PC MEMORY conducted a plain clothes operation around the Kingsway Retail Park and Morrisons. This was due to reports of theft offences and begging outside of the Retail Stores. Although no shoplifting took place during the time that we were doing the operation, two adult males were issued with CPW's for begging outside of Morrisons, Kingsway. The CPW outlined rules which they have to adhere to, including not to beg in the borough of Rochdale. One male was further sighted around half an hour later doing the same thing and he was issued a Community Protection Notice (CPN). A breach of this can now result in his arrest.

Many thanks,

PC BAXENDALE and the Pennine Neighbourhood Team.
