There has been an rise in theft of integral Satellite Navigation systems along with other property from cars in the Calderdale Area. 

You can help protect yourself by following these simple steps. 

● Park in busy well-lit and well populated areas and when possible areas covered by CCTV. 

● Always ensure that your vehicle is locked when leaving it - check the door handles before you walk away. 

● Make sure you remove items of value from your vehicle when leaving it unoccupied - bags, laptops, money, mobile phones, tools and other portable items are easy to steal. 

● Offences can take place anywhere, in a car park, at the side of the road or even when your car is on your drive. If possible park your vehicle in a garage. 

● Check with your vehicle manufacturer to see if they sell additional security devices for integrated sat-navs.

● When parking your vehicle in a public place try to look for a car park that has Park Mark accreditation. This offers a higher level of security for your vehicle. 

● Report suspicious activity to West Yorkshire Police (999 if a crime is occurring, otherwise via 101 or online at https://www.westyorkshire.police.uk/LiveChat
