New police base for Stourbridge

Dear Resident,

I thought you'd want to know that police officers have today (Thursday 7 November) started to move into our new base in Stourbridge town centre.

The new offices, in Copthall House on New Road, is now home to the Stourbridge & Lye neighbourhood policing teams. In the coming months, emergency response officers who attend 999 calls, will also use the base.

The base, which is one of a number of private offices in the secure block, will be officially opened by the Chief Constable and Police & Crime Commissioner at the end of the month.

We're pleased that after a long, hard search for somewhere suitable and somewhere which offers good value for public money, we once again have a base in Stourbridge.

It also honours the pledge we made when the old station closed, that we would find a new, suitable home in the town, for the teams who serve the people of the area.

In winter 2025, the new Dudley Police headquarters opens in Castlegate business park. At the same time, Brierley Hill police station - which is no longer fit for purpose - will close. The Brierley Hill neighbourhood policing team will move into a new base in area they patrol. Work is underway to find a suitable base in Halesowen.

These changes are all part of our plans to deliver a service that works for local people by keeping teams in the heart of the communities they serve.

The new site in Stourbridge is not open to the public and does not have a contact office. People can report crimes and get advice on our website westmidlands.police.uk or call us on 101. Those who prefer to speak to us face to face should visit their nearest open police station, found by searching our website. In an emergency, you should always phone us on 999.

The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner owns our buildings while the Chief Constable decides how we use them.

You can find out more about our buildings and our plans for them at: westmidlands-pcc.gov.uk
