Community engagement

Last week officers attended The Whinnies Community Garden in Sunniside.  They spoke to volunteers and members of the public – learning about the brilliant work they have been doing.  They also chatted to members of the ‘knit and natter’ group who have been knitting trauma teddies for officers to support children who have been involved in traumatic incidents. 

Officers discussed how they can work together with the community project and heard about upcoming events and community work they are involved in.  Officers also heard all about the volunteering opportunities offered at the gardens.  This visit demonstrates the positives that working with community partners can have for everyone involved.
