A Section 60 order, which began at 12pm yesterday (1/5), has been extended for a further 24 hours until 12pm tomorrow (3/5).

It was put in place following an affray in the town on Tuesday (30/4).

Four males have approached a group of men on Trelawney Avenue. One of the males has then entered a shop and threatened the men with a machete.

The order gives our officers extra powers to carry out stop and search activity, and has been enacted for the safety of the public.

Officers who are out and about are there to reassure you as well as using their powers under Section 60 so please do stop and speak with them about any concerns that you have.
