Witness appeal following criminal damage in Bearton Road, Hitchin

Dear Resident

Police are appealing for witnesses and information after reports of criminal damage in Hitchin.

It has been reported that damage was caused to two vehicles parked in Bearton Road between 3am and 6am on Saturday 20 April.  Police have since received two similar reports of damage to vehicles that occurred overnight in the same area on Sunday 21 and Monday 22 April.

Neighbourhood Policing Team Inspector James Lant said: “We’d like to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious behaviour, or caught any footage on a doorbell camera, in the Bearton Road area following these reports.

“In addition, we understand there may have been other similar incidents in the area which have not been reported to police yet. I’d urge anyone who has been a victim of crime to report it using one of the methods below.

“I’d like to reassure residents that these reports are being investigated and additional patrols continue to be carried out in the area.”
