Seizure of E-Scooters

Dear all,

As you may already be aware the usage of Electric Scooters is currently an issue within the whole of our country. The only legal way to ride one of these Eclectic Scooters on public roads and areas is through using the specific Government trial E-Scooters which are only available in certain parts of the country. Unfortunately Worcester is not apart of the testing area and so there is no legal way to ride a E-Scooter in Worcester. Due to the nuisance being caused by certain individuals the police are now taking robust action and will be seizing all E-Scooters which we come across under Section 165a Road Traffic Act 1988. This is because at this time E-Scooters are classified as motor vehicles meaning to legal ride one its riders must obtain the correct insurance which is currently not possible.

If you have any information such as hotspots in the area where these Scooters are being ridden then please notify us via 101.

Best wishes,

PCSO Westwood 40594
