Dear Neighbourhood Link Member, Here is an update on neighbourhood policing in the Anstey neighbourhood.
Beat priorities
What have the neighbourhood team been doing? “You said, we did” ASB – The beat team have been patrolling local hotspots and have been working with partner agencies to deal with current ongoing ASB issues. There has been a report of youths smoking cannabis and upsetting the local community of the park that is just off Pollards Road in Anstey. The local beat team have been patrolling this area over recent weeks to catch and deal with youths appropriately. One youth in particular has been identified and has been visited by the police. We continue to work on minimising the disruption caused by illegal offroad motorbikes and continue to patrol hotspots, including the rugby field off Link Road. Residents are also looking to get a consultation with the parish council over this issue
Road safety (Speeding) – The beat team conducted speed observations in the surrounding villages of Thurcaston, Cropston and Newtown Linford this month, the figures of which have been passed to the Leicestershire Road Safety Partnership for consideration of making some of these enforcement van spots due to poor compliance with the limits. There will be more speed operations and enforcements over the coming months.
Crime Prevention Advice Here are some useful ways to keep you and your property safe on the street. Look confident You are less likely to be targeted if you look confident. Move with purpose and try to be aware of your surroundings. Know where you’re going Plan your route and think about what to take with you, especially if you’re going somewhere you haven’t been before. Keep to busy, well-lit streets, walkways and paths which are more likely to be covered by CCTV. Only take licensed taxis or minicabs booked by phone or a mobile phone app. Hide it Keep your mobile phone and valuables out of sight. If you’re using your phone it’s more likely to be snatched from your hand as you’re not paying attention to your surroundings, so look around you. And never leave a mobile, any other device, wallet or purse on the table of an outdoor café, pub or restaurant. Same goes for any jewellery you might be wearing – keep it covered when walking down the street. Finally – and this is so important to remember – if you’re threatened with violence, don’t risk your personal safety. Property can be replaced, you can’t.
If anybody has any information about the recorded crimes then please speak with your local officers, or if you have any information at all about crime, please call CRIMESTOPPERS. Your call will always be free, we won’t ask your name and you may even receive a cash reward. Just call – 0800 555 111
