Charity Donation Fraud

Hello

We're currently looking into a suspicious incident in Newcastle-under-Lyme Borough. A group of males were seen wearing a particular Charities ‘tabards’. The reports suggests they were door knocking requesting donations for the charity. The charity have been contacted and stated they had no employee's in the area.

When you meet a fundraiser in-person, check their credentials:

  • Street collectors should wear an ID badge that is clearly visible.
  • Any collection buckets should be sealed and undamaged. Most fundraising materials should feature a charity’s name, registration number and a landline phone number.
  • If in doubt, ask for more information – a genuine fundraiser should be happy to answer your questions.
  • Contact the charity direct or donate via a trusted method
