Alnwick Neighbourhood Team - Rural update(s)

Update from April 2024

A Ssangyong 4x4 pickup was stolen in early April 2024 from the Rothbury area.

Enquiries instigated by Alnwick Neighbourhood Team, assisted by colleagues in Durham, lead to the vehicle being stopped in Cumbria after a short pursuit. This was supported by Response officers based at Alnwick.

There were two arrests made, where one male was arrested on suspicion of Theft of the Vehicle, Failing to Stop for Police and document offences. He was charged and remanded for the next available Court.

Work coordinated by Alnwick Neighbourhood Team is currently ongoing with colleagues in Durham and Cumbria to seek a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) with a view to keeping this male out of Northumberland and Cumbria.

This is another good example of the Community working with local officers in reporting suspicious activity and incidents to Police, this can be reported via 101 or Report | Northumbria Police or alternatively Giving information anonymously | Crimestoppers (crimestoppers-uk.org)
