Weekly update from the Oldbury neighbourhood policing team


Dear Residents,

 

Here’s a quick round up from me and the rest of the Oldbury neighbourhood policing team. 

 

What’s been happening

 

  • Oldbury PCSOs were invited to a Dementia Care Event which was being held at Oldbury Library. These people do a great job in difficult circumstances. 
  •  

     

     

     

  • Neighbourhood officers have attended one of our Primary Schools with partner agencies for a joint meeting to help support one of their pupils. 
  • A male has been arrested by officers for criminal damage & common assault. 
  • Oldbury officers were sent to a job for a missing person the person was found, they have been returned them back to their home address referrals will be put in place. 
  • PCSOs have been into St Francis Xavier Catholic Primary School to deliver fire safety session as part of the junior PCSOs program. We spoke about how important it is to have smoke alarms fitted in your homes, we also drew plans of houses so we knew which route to take in case of a fire. 
  • Neighbourhood officers have conducted hot spot area patrols during their duty.
  • Neighbourhood PCSOs have been into one of our schools to attend a nurture (Adverse childhood experiences) session with staff members. We got involved with activities and spoke with the children - it is humbling to listen to some of the children’s stories and we are grateful to be part of these sessions. 
  • Officers have attended a fight which had occurred outside of Sainsburys, when officers arrived they detained the offender and found out he was a missing person, officers have returned them safely to a family member.

  • Officers have arranged cuppa with a copper event at St Davids Court Oldbury.

  •  Officers have arrested a male who was wanted for theft.
  •  

      The Best Deterrent to burglary 

  • Secure valuable items out of sight
  • Ensure windows and doors are locked
  • Fit a house alarm
  • Be vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour 
  •

    Next week.

    We will be continuing with our Junior PCSO sessions. We will also be continuing our reassurance patrols in the local crime hotspots.

    PCSOs have got a input on stealing and the consequences of their actions at one of our schools.
