Witness appeal following GBH in Stevenage

Dear Resident

Police are appealing for witnesses and information following a serious assault in Stevenage.

The incident occurred between 9.20pm and 9.40pm on Saturday (20 April) on Canterbury Way.

An argument between the two female victims and the suspect broke out in St Nicolas Tavern and continued into the car park where one of the victims was punched. This has then continued outside and on to Canterbury Way where another victim was struck across the face, causing her to lose consciousness.

The victim regained consciousness and was assisted by witnesses back to the St Nicholas Tavern car park where she then lost consciousness again for a significant amount of time.

The victim sustained a cut to her lip and due to losing consciousness was taken to hospital via ambulance.

A man in his 30s has since been released on police bail while the investigation continues.

Detective Constable Dom Pyburn, from the Stevenage Local Crime Unit, said: “We are keen to talk to anyone that was in the area at the time who may have witnessed this incident and could have vital information for our investigation.

“If you believe that you have information that could help with this investigation, please email me at dom.pyburn@herts.police.uk with any information, thank you.”
