Update of what had been happening

Hello, and welcome to your round up from the St Matthew’s Neighbourhood Policing Team. Keeping the different communities in St Matthew’s informed of just some of the activities that we have done recently.

Some things that we have been doing on our patch:

PC’s and PCSO’s from the team have been out and about recently in partnership with Greensquare Accord Housing Officers, visiting properties and locations across Caldmore, where issues such as Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) and neighbourhood issues have been causing problems within the projects and the wider community they are in. These visits are based on intelligence that is received from those people living in the community affected. In one case there were dogs found in a vacant property which required support from the dog unit.

We have been partnership working with Walsall Council Community protection team, patrolling and enforcing the PSPO within the town centre, as well as using the same powers to deal with the beggars that have been seen weaving in and out of traffic at the main Arboretum traffic lights. We will continue with this joint working, collecting evidence of preaches of the PSPO and issuing the appropriate Community Protection Warning and Community protection notices.

The team have been conducting crime prevention surgeries in various locations including, places of worship, where members of the public have been able to drop in discuss issues that concern them in their community.

We have taken part in Safer Business Action week in Walsall Town Centre where we used the mobile police station as a drop-in location for shoppers and also visits to retail businesses to discuss their own issues of concern. There was an arrest of a shoplifter as part of this operation.   Also, since the Safer Business Action Week PC’s on all 3 teams have made several arrests of shop lifting offenders.
